The Art of War by Sun Tzu and Lean Enterprise Consulting
In a previous post, I shared with you the relationship between Lean Six Sigma and Neuroscience; which are the two scientific models utilized by VORTEX©, the NeuroGneering division of Lean Enterprise Consulting Inc. to drive forward any type of Business Transformation Projects (BTP).
Today I would like to share with you some concepts from the Book The Art of War by Sun Tzu wrote within the period of 770 -476 BCE. Sun Tzu established that in the very beginning of a war, which we can substitute for a “Business Improvement project” there are five decisive factors, which must be taken into account in your project planning process. You must study then when laying your plans and thoroughly understand their relevance. These factors are:
- Moral Compass
Among all of them, there is one that poses a very intensive level of practicability, “ Moral Compass” – the urgency to observe, interpret and understand the “mood” of the soldiers (your project team members) from their behaviors. A moral compass brings the people into accord with their ruler (project manager) so they will follow him/her in “life” and “death” without fear.
But, How do people fear? How they become the way they are? What are the essential determinants of human performance and human behavior? Your ability to understand the foundation principles of human behavior can give you an edge in selecting people and molding them into a peak performance team for yourself and your business.
As a General (Project Manager) you have the duty and responsibility to study your team’ members behavior; the good news is that you are not alone.
VORTEX, LEC NeuroGneering division can assist you to lay the plans and thoroughly relay their relevance to the team, assess your team abilities, including your PM, understand where a specific leadership style is most effective, and train your troops (teams). By helping you to answer these questions, VORTEX can tell you who will succeed and who will not succeed. We can help you!
This is the second of a series of post in which I expect to explain to you my selected group of LinkedIn readers the bold and novel way that we at Lean Enterprise Consulting Inc. are integrating Lean Six Sigma tools with a solid body of scientific knowledge in Neuroscience.
